That is seriously awesome. I would give anything to be around when something like this is happening.

Would be fun, wouldn't it?

What a great idea, it must be fabulous to go for a walk in your town and come across something like this.

PS. It's in Spain. :o)

Yes, it's called Sabadell.

Cool idea to bring the music out of the hall into the street. Nice promo for the town. Are you familiar with that town?
nelyo_russandol at 2012-07-22 09:49 (UTC) (Link)
No, I know where it is, but never been there.

This is what classical music, and more specifically Beethoven's Ode can do. It crosses generations, is irresistible to attempt to conduct, and makes my fingers just itch for my cello. I love the Ode and to have it reflect such joy in so many people's faces starts my day beautifully.

*Hugs* to you and your loved ones today. Thank you for such a nice Thursday gift.

You're welcome. I loved all the little kids conducting.

I must be in 'one of those moods' today because this made me completely burst into tears. It's good to know that there is still beauty and whimsy and great, timeless art in the world. Yay! :)

Oh my, burst into tears. I have those days. lol. Yes, beauty and whimsy and great, timeless art. What would life be without it? And good to focus on it in the face of senseless violence and evil.

What a piece of work is man, for true.

You're welcome. Hugs back.

What a wonderful way to start a day! Thank you so much for this gift of beauty and joy.

Right now, I'm so jealous of those folks who had a chance to be surprised by some of the best music ever composed. I'm like Erulisse: that made my fingers itch for my violin!! You know, I think that of all of classical music, this is the one piece that is best known and best loved, no matter if you like any of the rest of it or not!
elfscribe5 at 2012-07-21 23:24 (UTC) (Link)
Oh you're quite welcome Aearwen. I always wanted to play the violin, actually I wanted to play Celtic music on the fiddle. Alas, it was not to be.

I love it that they chose the Ode to Joy for this. "Seid umschlungen, Millionen!" (Be embraced, millions!)
elfscribe5 at 2012-07-21 23:24 (UTC) (Link)
An inspiring piece of music, for sure.
hhimring at 2012-07-22 09:44 (UTC) (Link)
A very inspirational piece of music--but I was talking about the text of the poem, to which of course Beethoven's music has leant extraordinary power. A poem about reaching out to mankind, joyfully, is somehow appropriate to a flash mob of this particular kind, don't you think?
mysid at 2012-07-20 00:16 (UTC) (Link)
Loved this--thanks!

The kids were adorable. And it just shows that great art can be enjoyed by all.
