Hobbit squeeee!

Well, being the out-and-proud Tolkien geek that I am, the other night I used fandango to buy tickets to see the midnight showing of The Hobbit on Dec. 13 at our local cinema -- in IMAX 3D no less. Oh, how I'm salivating.

I saw one of several trailers when I went to see Cloud Atlas recently. The Hobbit looks fabulous, with all the magnificent scenic grandeur, great characterizations, and action we've come to expect from PJ and company. Love Martin Freeman as the younger incarnation of Bilbo. And omg, this movie is making dwarves sexy! Even though I really don't like beards, yeah Richard Armitage as Thorin, that voice! That smoldering look. YUM! And Fili and Kili, as we've already ascertained, are hot. So, let's see, how quickly do we guess slashy dwarf-centric fics will appear? (I'm not writing them.)I also think I'm going to enjoy the slapstick dwarf humor, even thought there are some who've expressed trepidations. Does anyone know, is the Necromancer and/or Smaug making even a brief appearance in this film or, as I'm guessing, must we wait until the next film for Benedict Cumberbatch's dulcet tones? Lee Pace as Thranduil seems like a treat for next year too. It looks like the story will be framed by an older Bilbo writing it, hence the opportunity for Frodo to appear. (See Elijah Wood on the red carpet in Wellington.) Also, serious erg here, I'm getting some hints, both from the brief gesture of Galadriel moving aside Gandalf's hair in the trailer and a comment that Ian McKellen makes that there's a THING going on between them? If so, I don't think I'm gonna like that.

Gratuitous pics of Richard Armitage as Thorin, and as himself under the cut.  Such pretty blue eyes.  Plus link to the premiere of The Hobbit in Wellington, New Zealand, as supplied by Alexcat.  Ah, apparently the link isn't wanting to work, probably a Facebook thing.  So, I'll just post the link here https://www. facebook. com/TheHobbitMov ie/app_173795602 763999.
