Oromedon's Lessons, part 11

Hello, I've uploaded the last chapter of "Oromedon's Lessons," a Mary Renault fanfic inspired by her marvelous novel, The Persian Boy, which is about Alexander the Great's lover named Bagoas. All my fic is now f-locked. So, if you want to read it, just friend me and I'll friend you back. Or if you'd rather be anonymous, the story will be posted soon to maryrenaultfics.

Elfscribe as in the Elfscribe from LOTR fandom? Loved your story, by the way, I think you've struck a good balance with Bagoas - I didn't like him at all in the Persian boy, but you've made me review my opinion of him. He's neither childish nor two-dimensional, nor girly, which I've seen too much of elsewhere. Oromedon is a lovely mix of tutor, lover and friend - and maybe I shouldn't, but I liked his other lover too! *grins* Nice piece of writing :)

Yes, indeed, same Elfscribe, now moved on to Mary Renault fanfic, although I might go back to LOTR at some point. Btw, your fic The Shores of Valinor is among my all-time favorites.
Thanks for kind comments about Oromedon's Lessons. You must have read it on maryrenaultfics? I can't imagine a better compliment than that my depiction of Bagoas made you reevaluate your feelings about him. I see him as quite a complex character, and certainly not girly. Re: Oromedon, he really came alive for me, especially through imagining his backstory, which almost took on a life of its own. Enjoyed fleshing him out, so to speak. Curious as to what you liked about his other lover? *g* Yeah, hopefully that little flash of Oromedon and Tooraj gives an insight into their relationship.

Go ahead - I'll friend you back; I'm glad to hear from you again. It looks like we both jumped fandom near enough the same time. I'm pleased you enjoyed Valinor so much; I've put a couple of Alexander pieces up on my LJ, but I'm lurking around fandom rather than actually participating much there now. I did read Oromedon's Lessons in maryrenaultfics, yes, but I'm not actually listed as a member so I couldn't comment.

As for Oromedon's other lover, I suppose it was just the sheer contrast to the eunuchs, there was an unexpected chemistry there that worked. Again, nice writing.
