Off-line for a while

Posted on 2007.04.06 at 00:22
Tomorrow I've got relatives coming for about a week. So, I'll probably be off-line, pretty much most of the time while entertaining. (And cooking for bunches of people - meh).
See you's all later.

So tell me what you thought of it. I haven't seen it as I'm not partial to senseless violence. But is it worth seeing despite that?

Well this is not senseless violence. It places the violence in its historical and social context as far as ancient Sparta was concerned. It is also visually stunning. The war scenes are like watching a ballet...well choreographed and so graceful.

The idea is that Sparta was a society that was totally warlike...so violence here makes total sense. It is NOT gratuitous. It is all in context.

I thought it was an amazingly well done film while appealing to my pervy side as well.

Hmmm, maybe I'll have to see it at some point. I thought the visual effects looked fascinating and I always appreciate hot men. I did see "Sin City" but the violence was so over-the-top for me that it interfered with my enjoyment.
I must say I'd have been much more interested in it if they had depicted the Spartan warrior society more accurately - institutionalized homosexuality and all. *g*
Thanks for the advice.
